Genetic Counseling Assistant - Student Intern

Department: Carolinas Medical Center – Genetics, Full‑time, Benefits Eligible. Hours: M‑F 40 hrs. Pay Range: $18.85–$28.30 per hour. Responsibilities Perform patient and family visits; deliver support services; conduct studies, investigations, research projects and other assignments. Provide administrative coverage of the office: answer phones, maintain computer data. Type documents such as letters; create spreadsheets and presentations. Assist with research projects, data analysis and the creation of various reports. Assist with entering data and filing. Communicate verbally and in writing with all levels within the System and with the public. Physical Requirements Work requires walking, sitting, lifting and reaching overhead. Must lift a minimum of10pounds to shoulder height and push patients in wheelchairs or supplies on a rolling cart. Intact sight and hearing required. Responsible for working in a safe manner. Education, Experience & Certifications GED or equivalent; undergraduate, master’s or postgraduate enrollment required. Computer skills required. Excellent planning, prioritizing, oral/written communication, interpersonal, problem‑solving and team skills required. Ability to work collaboratively and respond creatively to rapidly changing environments.
