Outpatient Registered Nurse (RN) - Behavioral Health Urgent Care Powell

SCOPE OF POSITION The Behavioral Health Urgent Care (BHUC) provides short‑term outpatient services that bridge gaps in mental health and substance use treatment. The BHUC Nurse serves as the primary responder, managing triage and intake of walk‑in patients and incoming clinic phone calls at BHUC locations. This role requires coordination of patient care, determination of the appropriate level of treatment, and support of a multidisciplinary team to deliver integrated care. RESPONSIBILITIES Serve as the primary responder for triage/intake of walk‑in patients and manage incoming clinic phone calls. Determine clinical appropriateness for BHUC or higher level of care and triage accordingly. Obtain patient vitals and assist with prescription and pharmacy issues. Return phone messages on the same day received. Administer long‑acting injectable medications as prescribed by BHUC physicians or advanced practice providers. Obtain and forward lab results as needed. Provide medication education and discuss side effects. Respond to patient messages in MyChart. Address additional patient needs as requested by clinic staff. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum 2 years experience as a psychiatric RN (strongly preferred). Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred. Monday‑Friday, 8‑hour day shift. LOCATIONS & FOCUS BHUC – Harding, 1st Floor, Harding Hospital, 1670 Upham Drive, Columbus, OH 43210 – Primary focus: mental health care with additional substance use support. BHUC – Talbot, 2nd Floor, Talbot Hall, 1441 Phale D. Hale Drive, Columbus, OH 43203 – Primary focus: substance use treatment with mental health support. Patients with mental health concerns alone may also be seen here. BHUC – Powell (Opening August 2026), Outpatient Care Powell, 7171 Sawmill Parkway, Powell, OH 43065 – Focus under development; will align with existing BHUC programs.
