Floor Technician

Job Overview The Floor Technician will safely perform floor care functions such as waxing, stripping, buffing, and other duties in accordance with company standards and procedures. The role includes environmental services, maintenance of all floor types, and equipment operation. Responsibilities Comply with safety rules, policies, and procedures. Identify and stop risky behaviors in others and in self. Collaborate with team members to complete assignments. Perform repetitive tasks while maintaining a clean work area. Follow company procedures, policies, and rules. Respond to direction and supervision. Communicate professionally with leads, supervisors, co‑workers, managers, and customers. Fill in during staff shortages in custodial, recycle, or maintenance areas. Support shift leads in completing punch‑list items. Use required personal protective equipment. Present a professional appearance and conduct. Understand customer service and reporting systems. Operate motorized cleaning equipment and maintain daily upkeep of assigned area. Clean and maintain tile, carpet, and brick flooring. Complete work assignments in a timely manner. Utilize chemicals and supplies according to procedure. Use and maintain equipment properly. Operate and maintain all equipment safely and correctly. Always observe safety precautions, including using safety signs such as "wet floor." Work independently without constant supervision. Report safety hazards as appropriate. Qualifications Education: No requirement. Experience: 6 months to 1 year preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience. Certificates and Licenses: Valid driver’s license, completed safety and task training certification, and forklift certification if required. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Knowledge of cleaning methods, equipment, and willingness to share with team. Knowledge of upkeep and care of cleaning equipment. Knowledge of cleaning compounds and chemicals, and their safe and efficient use. Supervisory Responsibilities This position has no supervisory responsibilities. Physical Demands and Work Environment Employees must frequently sit and talk or listen, lift or move up to 35 pounds, and may require accommodations for disabilities. The work environment is typical of custodial and maintenance service settings.
