This role ensures proper handling of funds from state, federal, and private sources, audits and reconciles reports, processes child-specific contracts, foster care pre-bills, and billing alerts (including related payments), and prepares detailed financial and analytical reports to support the financial management of DFPS programs. Essential Job Functions (EJFs): Maintain accurate financial records for children’s income accounts, ensuring compliance with state, federal, and agency requirements. Demonstrates attention to detail and accuracy in numerical work. Demonstrates efficiency in organization and time management. Verify Social Security income awarded to children in foster care. Audit, reconcile, and approve financial reports to verify accuracy and completeness. Process child-specific contracts, foster care pre-bills, and billing alerts (including related payments). Working knowledge of spreadsheets and financial software. Monitor accounts and general ledgers for discrepancies and make necessary adjustments. Prepare detailed financial and analytical reports to support program operations and management decisions. Ensure timely and accurate handling of funds from state, federal, and private sources. Communicate with program staff, management, and external partners regarding account status, payments, and contract matters. Respond to inquiries, both verbally and in writing, regarding various accounting issues. Perform other duties as required to support unit operations. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs): Knowledge of: Knowledge of accounting principles, practices, procedures, and terminology. Knowledge of automated accounting systems, spreadsheets, and related financial software. Skill in: Skill in performing detailed numerical work with speed and accuracy. Skills in analyzing financial data, identifying discrepancies, and reconciling accounts. Skill in preparing clear, concise, and accurate financial and analytical reports. Skill in organizing and prioritizing work to meet strict deadlines. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with staff, management, and external partners. Initial Screening Criteria: Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent. Two (2) years of full-time accounting, bookkeeping, financial, or clerical experience. Education from an accredited college or university may substitute for the required experience: 60 semester hours may be used in place of the experience requirement on a year-for-year basis.
