Description

American Traveler is hiring an Interventional Radiology Technologist with 2+ years of experience and required neuro IR experience for a facility in the Novant Health system.

• Unit averages a daily census of 450 with 20 visits per day across 3 procedure rooms
• 650-bed facility
• Performs stroke intervention, intracranial embolization, kyphoplasty, carotid and vertebral stenting, nephrostomy, biliary placement, chemoembolization, TheraSphere mapping and infusion, mesenteric angiogram, UAE, GAE, PAE, chest port and perm cath placement
• Uses fluoroscopy, GE Innova single plane, and two Siemens Artis biplane units
• Charting is done in EPIC
• 5x8 hour day shifts, Monday through Friday, from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM
• Call requirement of one day per week on a rotating schedule (Tuesday, Thursday, Monday, Wednesday, Weekend)
• Weekend requirement of one weekend every 6-7 weeks
• No floating requirement

Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of interventional radiology experience required
• Neuro IR experience required
• Previous stroke-certified hospital experience preferred
• ARRT and BLS certification required; ARRT CI and ARRT VI certifications preferred
• License required if applicable
• Experience with abdominal, pelvic, genitourinary, neurological, and vascular interventional procedures required
• Skills required include angioplasty, embolization, IVC filter placement/removal, carotid angiography, carotid stenting, thrombolysis/thrombectomy, vertebroplasty, and central venous access (non-tunneled/PICC lines)
• Proficiency with equipment setup, access site prep, room circulating, and maintaining sterile field required
• Experience with 3D imaging, isolation precautions/PPE, and use of Rapid Response/Code teams required
• Lead tech experience required
• EPIC charting experience required
• Teaching hospital, community hospital, and Trauma Level I/II experience preferred
• Previous travel healthcare experience required; first-time travelers will not be accepted

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include maintaining equipment, stocking supplies, and utilizing PACS system
• Preferred skills include maintaining inventory, dialysis graft interventions, upper and lower extremity angiography, EKG lead placement, and use of vascular closure systems (Perclose, StarClose)
• Preferred experience with GE Innova IGS, Siemens, and ultrasound equipment
• Unit orientation is 40 hours
• Scrubs are not provided; light blue scrubs required
• Accepts local candidates, though a lower rate applies within 50 miles of the facility
• Travel pairs are allowed if placed on different units and disclosed at submission
• Former Novant Health or New Hanover PERM/PRN/EP employees must wait 12 months before reapplying, with facility approval required
• Current travel per diem clinicians must choose between travel or per diem status, as both are not permitted simultaneously
• RTO of up to 7 days can be auto-approved as long as it does not fall on a holiday; no RTO is allowed during the first week of assignment
• Candidates must work 2 of the 3 major holidays
• Start date is confirmed by the facility on the Tuesday prior to the start week and may fall on a Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday depending on class and trainer availability
• Full availability with no other commitments is required during the first week to accommodate potential schedule changes
