About the Position

Job Title: Staff Nurse Emergency Department Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Emergency Nursing Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 3 years current experience working in an emergency department, previous traveler experience with knowledge in trauma, STEMI, stroke, sepsis, and pediatric care. License: Current Registered Nurse License Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: EPIC Description: The Registered Nurse (RN) protects, promotes, and optimizes health and abilities. The RN prevents illness and injury and alleviates suffering through the diagnosis and treatment of human responses. Advocacy in care for individuals and families is essential. The RN is responsible for compliance with standards of practice and professional development. Responsibilities follow the Nurse Practice Act, policies, and ethical standards. A caring and healing environment for patient-centered care is promoted. The RN assesses, plans, delegates, coordinates, implements, and evaluates nursing care for a group of patients. They serve as a primary nurse and/or accountable nurse when designated by unit assignment. Factors related to safety, effectiveness, competency, cost, and impact are considered in all decisions. Patient and family education in health promotion and disease management is provided using available resources. A working knowledge of pharmacology is utilized to safely administer medications. Responsibility is shared for productivity and effective resource utilization. The RN complies with all nursing practice standards, regulatory requirements, and policies. Active participation and support of nursing initiatives and peer review practices is expected. Engagement in professional development and continuing nursing education is encouraged. Integration of nursing research and current evidence into practice is essential. A supportive learning environment for new employees and students is provided. Duties related to the Charge Nurse or Shift Coordinator role may be assigned. Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.
