Licensure and certifications:
Washington RN license or valid compact license.

BLS and ACLS required.
NIHSS preferred, not required.

Minimum experience and first-time traveler eligibility are

Required clinical abilities:
Med-surg/telemetry care and

reviewing cardiac rhythm strips .
Management of

heparin, Cardizem, insulin—not DKA protocol—and comfort-care narcotic drips .
Care of patients with CHF, COPD, cellulitis, alcohol withdrawal, kidney conditions, dementia, and stroke.
Comfort with

1:5 assignments , potentially

1:6 during inpatient boarding .
Epic

is used; prior Epic experience is not explicitly required.
Schedule and floating:
12-hour days, 7 a.m.–7:30 p.m.
Every other weekend

and holiday coverage required.
Must float among

med-surg, PCU, ED boarding, and temporary bed locations .
Start date and requested time off require manager approval.
Contract and guaranteed hours:
Standard posting lists

36 guaranteed hours weekly .
Shorter contracts of

at least 8 weeks

may offer

48 guaranteed hours weekly ; this option

does not apply to 13-week contracts .
Hospital may cancel

4 shifts per 13-week assignment , or

3 shifts for shorter assignments . Confirm how cancellations affect guaranteed hours.
Scrubs are professional colors/patterns at

SMMC

and

navy blue at SAH ; confirm assigned campus coverage.
