Registered Nurse (RN) - OncologyThis is an opportunity for a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) to join a specialized inpatient oncology unit. The unit consists of a 28-bed adult acute care hematology/oncology setting as well as a 15-bed intermediate care Stem Cell Transplant Unit (SCTU). The RN will play a critical role in providing high-quality patient care in a fast-paced environment.Key ResponsibilitiesDeliver direct patient care to oncology and hematology patients.Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans.Monitor patient conditions and respond promptly to changes in status.Educate patients and their families on treatment plans, medications, and potential side effects.Maintain accurate and timely documentation using electronic health record systems.Shift DetailsFull-time night shifts, providing 36 or 48 hours of care per week.13-week contract with every other weekend and holiday commitment.Must work 2 out of 3 winter holidays.QualificationsCurrent RN licensure in Virginia or eligibility for licensure.Certification from the Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) is required; ONS chemotherapy/immunotherapy certification pending is acceptable if completed before the start date.Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred.Experience with Epic electronic health record system is required.Adherence to float policy is mandatory.Patient-Caregiver RatioThe nurse to patient ratio for this unit is 1:4.Additional InformationThis role offers a unique opportunity to support patients undergoing treatment for cancer in a supportive and collaborative environment.
