What You'll Do
- Respond to approximately 85-95 patient visits per day across a variety of ages, from newborns to geriatrics.
- Provide care to patients with conditions including respiratory distress, diabetics, GI bleeds, stroke, cardiac issues, minor traumas, and mental health concerns.
- Perform IV starts, continuous patient monitoring, and quick assessment of patient severity.
- Collaborate with charge nurses, hospitalists, RTs, and support staff to deliver efficient care.
- Maintain accurate documentation using Meditech Expanse EMR.
- Support patient admission, holding admitted patients in ED, and hall bed assignments.
- Demonstrate competence in EKG interpretation and pass related competency exams before deployment.
- Follow unit protocols for shift coverage, holiday work, and on-call duties.
What You Need
- Required:
- Active RN license in Louisiana or applicable region
- BLS, ACLS, NIH, PALS certifications
- CPI or MOAB certification (or comparable)
- Minimum 2 years of recent ED RN experience
- Ability to pass an EKG competency test
- Strong multitasking, assessment, and patient monitoring skills
- Preferred:
- Experience in trauma and critical care nursing
- Previous travel/agency RN experience is a plus but not mandatory
