Job Summary
Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Registered Nurse (RN) position in the vicinity of Summit Medical Center. This role involves delivering acute patient care in a specialized unit that manages various medical conditions, requiring critical thinking, advanced skills, and comprehensive clinical expertise. The assignment begins on October 19, 2026, and continues through January 18, 2027.

Job Details

• Position Description:
  Provides patient care in a 34-bed (unit 630) and 25-bed (unit 633) PCU within the organization, handling patients with diverse medical needs including stroke and post-cardiac catheterization care.
• Certifications and Education Requirements:
  Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications, along with at least 1 year of relevant clinical experience.
• Schedule:
  Nights shift, 12-hour shifts, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
• Required Qualifications:
  Active BLS and ACLS certifications; minimum 1 year of clinical experience; ability to interpret EKG rhythms, manage cardiac, insulin, and heparin drips; experience with bipaps, high flow oxygen, and oxygen delivery systems; knowledge of stroke and post-cardiac cath care; proficient in peripheral IV skills and procedures such as peritoneal dialysis, thoracentesis, chest tube insertions, and line dressing changes.
• Additional Information:
  The unit performs hourly rounding on days and every 2 hours on nights, emphasizing communication through AIDET and updating communication boards. The unit follows a self-scheduling model with a four-week cycle, requiring every other weekend work. Experience with wound vacs, NG tubes, and troubleshooting clinical equipment is preferred. Most travelers tend to extend their assignment after initial placement, reflecting a supportive and team-oriented environment.
