Histology Technologist (Bluesky) - Pathology

Job Summary Histology Technologist (Bluesky) – Pathology. Contract position. In‑Office, St. Helena, CA, United States. Schedule Evening Shift: 5 x 8 hours, Sunday – Thursday, 23:00 – 08:30. No call. Ability to work independently and handle high volume. Minimum years of experience not required; qualified applicants will be considered. Responsibilities Perform laboratory tests requested by physicians. Maintain clear, legible records for all completed tests. Accurately report test results to pathology staff. Ensure quality control and documentation for quality assurance. Operate and troubleshoot histology equipment. Prepare tissue and blood samples, creating microscope slides suitable for examination by pathologists. Embed, microtomy, stain, and cover tissue sections with appropriate dyes and reagents. Prepare and maintain solutions required for all procedures. Identify, label, and process tissue according to specifications. Perform and document quality control checks, including special stains, immunostains, and IPX. Deliver prepared slides to pathologists for diagnosis. Maintain and clean instruments, perform preventive maintenance, and replenish supplies and solutions. Monitor departmental workflow and support operational flow. Use cost‑containment practices without compromising patient care. Keep technical knowledge current in histology and laboratory techniques. Perform other job‑related duties as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in cytotechnology or equivalent (some certifications may require a bachelor’s). Master’s Degree – preferred. Experience in cytology – preferred. ASCP Histology Technician certification – preferred. Organizational Requirements All associates must receive all required vaccinations as a condition of employment and annually thereafter, where applicable.
