New Orleans, Louisiana: Flexicrew Technical Services (FTS) is seeking an Assistant Fabrication Shop Foreman to support daily fabrication operations, coordinate personnel and materials, maintain production schedules, and ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and to established quality standards. This is a working leadership position requiring hands-on fabrication support, employee direction, job-progress monitoring, and production problem-solving. The Assistant Foreman will assume responsibility for shop operations when the Fabrication Shop Foreman is unavailable.

Essential Duties:
• Assist with planning, organizing, and supervising daily fabrication shop activities.
• Assign and communicate daily work responsibilities to welders, fitters, fabricators, helpers, and other assigned personnel.
• Review drawings, sketches, specifications, work orders, and job requirements with the Foreman and fabrication employees.
• Coordinate fabrication sequencing to meet production schedules and customer deadlines.
• Perform and supervise layout, fitting, welding, cutting, forming, assembly, and repair work.
• Verify measurements, material specifications, weld preparation, fit-up, and completed fabrication work.
• Monitor job progress, labor hours, material usage, and equipment requirements.
• Communicate production delays, material shortages, equipment problems, quality concerns, and manpower needs to the Fabrication Shop Foreman.
• Assist with coordinating materials, consumables, tools, forklifts, cranes, welding machines, and other equipment required for each job.
• Ensure employees have the correct materials, drawings, tools, and instructions before beginning work.
• Inspect completed work for workmanship, dimensional accuracy, weld quality, and compliance with job specifications.
• Identify and correct fabrication issues early to minimize rework.
• Coordinate with project management, superintendents, purchasing, warehouse, quality control, and other departments as required.
• Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas, fabrication tables, equipment, tools, and material storage areas.
• Assist with maintaining accountability and proper control of tools and equipment.
• Enforce safety policies, personal protective equipment requirements, housekeeping standards, and safe work practices.
• Conduct or assist with daily safety discussions and pre-job planning.
• Immediately report accidents, injuries, property damage, unsafe conditions, and employee safety concerns.
• Provide instruction, coaching, and on-the-job training to fabrication employees.
• Monitor employee attendance, punctuality, productivity, workmanship, and compliance with company policies.
• Document and communicate employee performance or disciplinary concerns to the Fabrication Shop Foreman and management.
• Assist with reviewing employee time entries and confirming labor is charged to the correct job or work order.
• Support overtime, weekend, emergency, vessel, dockside, and field-service work as required.
• Serve as acting Fabrication Shop Foreman when assigned.
• Perform other duties necessary to support operations.

Requirements/Skills:
• Minimum of five years of relevant industrial, marine, structural, or heavy fabrication experience.
• Previous lead person, crew leader, or supervisory experience preferred.
• Strong working knowledge of structural steel and aluminum fabrication.
• Proficiency in layout, fitting, welding, cutting, grinding, forming, and assembly.
• Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings, blueprints, sketches, welding symbols, specifications, and measurements.
• Ability to verify dimensions, elevations, angles, tolerances, and material requirements.
• Familiarity with welding processes commonly used in marine and industrial fabrication.
• Ability to safely operate or supervise the use of fabrication equipment, forklifts, overhead lifting equipment, welding machines, cutting equipment, and power tools.
• Strong organizational, communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to direct employees professionally and hold personnel accountable for safety, quality, attendance, and productivity.
• Ability to work under pressure and adjust priorities based on changing production needs.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
• Ability to work overtime, nights, weekends, and emergency assignments when required.
• Marine repair, shipyard, industrial construction, or heavy manufacturing experience preferred.
• Experience fabricating vessel components, foundations, platforms, stairs, handrails, piping supports, structural assemblies, or machinery components preferred.
• Welding certifications applicable to structural steel, aluminum, or marine fabrication preferred.
• Forklift, rigging, crane signaling, or other relevant safety certifications preferred.
• Experience tracking labor, materials, and job progress through work orders or production-management systems preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to lead by example, communicate expectations clearly, address problems promptly, maintain accountability, and promote safe, productive, and cooperative shop operations.

Physical Requirements:
• Stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, reach, and work in physically demanding positions for extended periods.
• Lift and carry up to 50 pounds independently and heavier materials with assistance or lifting equipment.
• Work around welding operations, sparks, fumes, noise, dust, machinery, and moving equipment.
• Work indoors and outdoors in hot, cold, humid, wet, and changing weather conditions.
• Wear required personal protective equipment, including safety glasses, welding protection, hearing protection, gloves, hard hats, respirators, and fall protection when applicable.
• Work at heights, in confined spaces, aboard vessels, and in active industrial or marine environments when assigned.
