Transportation Engineering Associate I

Job Responsibilities

Assists ARME/RME with permit applications process, reviews encroachment permit applications for compliance with standards. Supervises Encroachment Permits, technicians and ensures work performed by others that is in accordance with permit standards. Manages highway maintenance contracts. Prepares contracts for bids. Supervises Transportation Engineering Technicians performing inspections related to maintenance contracts. Supports maintenance operations by procuring rental equipment under contract and other items requiring engineering specifications. Assists in the review of contract damage claims and making recommendations for payment or denial. Trains in departmental policies concerning procurement, acts as procurement card liaison. Assists Assistant Resident Maintenance Engineer and Resident Maintenance Engineer in any maintenance project. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

A bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Construction Science and Management; or an approved acceptable equivalence. The physical demands for the essential functions involves sitting or standing at a desk for extended periods of time. This position may require occasional travel. May require bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, climbing, balancing, and kneeling. Walking for extended periods, treading rough terrain, working in close proximity to motoring traffic, and in natural environmental hazards. May be required to work outside normal business hours or respond to emergency situations.
