Material Science Specialist (AI Training) About the Role What if your deep expertise in material science could directly shape how AI reasons about semiconductors, molecular structures, and the physical world? We're looking for Materials Science specialists - Masters and PhD-level experts - to help train and evaluate cutting-edge AI models on some of the most complex problems in science today. This is a fully remote, flexible contract role built for researchers and domain experts who want to put their knowledge to work beyond the lab. No AI background needed - your scientific expertise is what matters.

- Develop, solve, and review advanced material science problems with real-world scientific relevance
- Apply your expertise in semiconductor materials, molecular modeling, or related specialisms to design challenging, rigorous problem sets
- Evaluate AI-generated solutions for scientific accuracy, depth, and reasoning quality
- Collaborate asynchronously with AI researchers and fellow domain experts to strengthen AI model performance
- Ensure scientific rigor, clarity, and precision across all deliverables
- Complete task-based assignments independently on your own schedule
- Master's or PhD in Material Science or a closely related discipline
- Deep expertise in semiconductor materials, molecular modeling, or adjacent research areas
- Comfortable coding in Python or MATLAB - research or project experience counts
- Naturally detail-oriented with strong scientific communication skills, both written and verbal
- Fluent in English and based in the U.S., Canada, U.K., Australia, or New Zealand
- No prior AI or machine learning experience required - full training support provided
- Prior experience with data annotation, data quality review, or evaluation systems
- Background in applied materials research, industry R&D, or academic publishing
- Familiarity with AI tools or technical evaluation workflows
- Work on frontier AI projects alongside the world's leading AI research labs
- Fully remote and flexible - work when and where it suits you
- Freelance autonomy with the structure of meaningful, task-based scientific work
- Apply your academic and research expertise in a high-impact, practical setting
