Sterile Processing TechPrepare and maintain the many life preserving articles and pieces of equipment that are necessary to provide the utmost in both patient and employee safety and generate the utmost in both patient care. Follow the direction and guidance of the Central Supply Supervisor.Responsibilities:Operates steam and ETO gas sterilizersMaintain extra suppliesUpdates file cards and maintains daily recordsParticipates in continuing education programs in the hospital and in outside seminars and workshopsDesired Attributes:Basic understanding of various functions of the department. Conscientious regard for technical and minute procedures.Thorough knowledge of medical terminology and nomenclature of items and equipment used by the department.Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.Minimum Qualifications:High school graduate or equivalentRequired Licensure/Certification: Certification by the Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) or Certified Registered Central Sterile Technician (CRCST) upon hire or must obtain within two years of hire.Physical Requirements:Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting.
