Interim Director of Human Resources

A mission-driven nonprofit arts organization is seeking an Interim Director of Human Resources to join the team on a temporary basis . This highly visible leadership role offers the opportunity to partner with executive leadership, guide organizational strategy, and support a collaborative, people-first culture. Who You Are You have 10+ years of HR leadership experience in a senior HR Generalist, HR Business Partner, or Director-level role Strong background in employee relations, performance management, workplace investigations, and HR compliance Experience advising executives and managers on organizational and people-related matters Knowledge of benefits administration, workers' compensation, unemployment, and PEO environments (TriNet experience is a plus) Passion for fostering inclusive,equitableworkplace cultures through DEI initiatives Union and/or nonprofit experience is a strong plus Collaborative, adaptable, and comfortable balancing strategic leadership with day-to-day HR operations What You'll Do Partner with executive leadership to align HR strategy with organizational priorities Advise managers on employee relations, performance management, investigations, and organizational planning Oversee HR compliance, benefits administration, leave management, workers' compensation, and annual HR processes Support recruitment, workforce planning, and organizational development initiatives Champion employee engagement, DEI efforts, and leadership development across the organization Collaborate cross-functionally to strengthen people practices and support a growing, mission-driven workforce What Success Looks Like Leaders receive trusted, strategic HR guidance that supports organizational goals Employee relations matters are handled thoughtfully, fairly, and in compliance with employment laws HR operations run efficiently while supporting an exceptional employee experience The organization continues to build an inclusive, collaborative, and high-performing culture Pay Rate Range: $60-65 per hour, based on experience Location: NewYork, NY – Hybrid Gainor is committed to the principle of equal employment opportunity for all employees and to providing employees with a work environment free of discrimination and harassment.
