District Support Pharmacist Full Time

Job Purpose and Summary At CVS Health the District Support Pharmacist (DSP) cultivates a culture of excellence in each pharmacy by acting as a role model, ensuring safe dispensing, counseling, immunizing, and supporting the pharmacy team. The DSP works under the Pharmacy Manager and Rx District Leader to cover scheduling gaps and oversee daily operations across the district. Responsibilities Travel the district to fill pharmacist shifts as scheduled by the District Performance Coordinator. Oversee the pharmacy and serve as Pharmacy Manager’s proxy during bench shifts. Support safe and accurate prescription fulfillment by directing the pharmacy team to follow workflow procedures and safety guardrails. Assume the Pharmacy Manager’s day‑to‑day duties when the only or primary pharmacist on duty. Deliver customer‑facing care by demonstrating empathy and coaching the team for compassionate service. Proactively offer and deliver immunizations, supporting Pharmacy Technicians in training to immunize. Manage pharmacy inventory, especially cold‑chain products, by following all best practices. Remain flexible for scheduling and business needs while fostering an inclusive, engaging team dynamic. Maintain clinical and technical skills through required trainings, CMEs, and ongoing learning. Provide pharmacist‑delivered clinical care such as testing and prescribing services where permissible. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and CVS Health policies, including controlled‑substance procedures and patient privacy. Qualifications Active Pharmacist License in the state where the store is located. Active National Provider Identifier (NPI). Not on the DEA Excluded Parties list. Essential Functions Travel within a reasonable radius to support market staffing as business needs require. Maintain regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends. Complete required training within the designated timeframe. Key Skills Customer Service and Team Orientation – Actively help people in a friendly manner and respond appropriately to patient reactions. Communication – Utilize verbal and written skills, active listening, and clear instructions. Mathematical Reasoning – Calculate dosages, supplies, and inventory counts accurately. Problem Resolution – Identify challenging interactions and choose the best course of action. Physical Demands Be mobile and remain upright for extended periods; lift up to 20 lbs, reach and stretch repeatedly; use visual acuity for tasks such as transcribing and observing small parts. Preferred Qualifications 1–2 years of related work experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting.
