Your role with us

As a clinical nurse in Salem Healths Emergency Department youll be on the front lines of care at one of the busiest EDs on the West Coast part of a Level II Trauma Center serving over 115000 patients annually. This role demands quick critical thinking strong clinical judgment and compassionate communication. Youll assess plan intervene and document care for patients across the lifespan while collaborating with a highly skilled interdisciplinary team. Whether youre stabilizing a trauma patient educating a family or leading a shift as charge nurse your expertise and adaptability help ensure excellent outcomes in a fast-paced and unpredictable environment. The weekly night shift schedule for this position will consist of three 12-hour shifts. Schedule may vary based on department need.

What youll do

• Performs accurate ongoing and age-appropriate assessments for each assigned patient.
• Reports and consults pertinent data with the healthcare team and takes appropriate action.
• Demonstrates competency in delivering care based on the individualized patient care plan.
• Follows Salem HealthWest Valley Hospital policies and procedures for all nursing skills.
• Initiates and/or reviews care plans with patients and families to address holistic age-specific needs.
• Adjusts care plans to reflect changes in the patients condition.
• Consistently documents assessments plans interventions and patient responses accurately.
• Anticipates patient and team needs sharing relevant information proactively.
• Helps maintain a safe unit environment by following infection control policies replacing sharps containers removing broken equipment and using proper lifting and transfer techniques.

Required qualifications

• Bachelor of Science - Nursing (BSN) OR Non-Nursing Bachelors Degree with Degree of Nursing (ADN) OR graduate of a diploma RN program with a minimum of five years acute care experience. ADN graduates with less than five years of acute care experience must sign agreement to complete BSN or MSN within three years of hire.
• Basic Life Support (BLS).
• Current unencumbered licensure to practice nursing as a Registered Nurse in the State of Oregon.
• Less than one year of RN Staff Nurse experience.
