Laboratory Technician - Overnight

As a Laboratory Technician at IDEXX you perform laboratory testing that helps veterinarians diagnose and treat pets. The role involves using automated analyzers, microscopes, and other diagnostic tools to analyze blood, urine, fecal, or biopsy samples for animal illnesses, injuries, and diseases. What You’ll Be Doing You will set up and run lab tests, then read and release results according to SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures). You will specialize in one or more of the following departments: Sample Management – receive, prepare, and accession veterinary samples for analysis. Parasitology – prepare fecal samples and use fecal flotation and microscopic techniques to identify parasites. Urinalysis – analyze and evaluate chemical and microscopic components of urine using automated instrumentation and manual methods. Immunology / Serology – test blood and other samples for viral or bacterial disease by detecting antibodies or antigens. What You’ll Need to Succeed High School diploma or equivalent; a 2-, 3-, or 4-year degree in a science-related field is preferred. Experience in setting up, running, and reading lab tests and operating laboratory equipment (microscopes, pipetting, diagnostic analyzers) is desirable. Prior veterinary technician or medical laboratory technician experience is a plus. Positive attitude, strong teamwork spirit, attention to detail, and reliability. Ability to meet physical requirements, including standing and sitting for extended periods, lifting up to 50lb, using a phone and computer, and having good vision (color, depth perception, focus). Exposure to biohazards and hazardous chemicals may occur. What You Can Expect From Us Hourly rates targeting $22.25 / hour. Opportunity for annual cash bonus and merit pay increase consideration. Urinalysis and Serology: Tuesday–Saturday, 2am–10:30am with an every‑other‑Sunday rotation (Sunday 12am–8:30am). Shift hours may vary slightly based on business needs.
