Job Description:

The Registered Nurse in the PICU is responsible for providing advanced care to pediatric patients in a Level II trauma center. This role involves managing critically ill patients and supporting them through various medical and surgical procedures, utilizing specialized skills and adherence to clinical protocols.

Responsibilities:

• Perform aseptic and sterile techniques and basic dressing changes.
• Manage ventilators and tracheostomies, including suctioning.
• Oversee g-tube/j-tube and feeding tube management.
• Handle chest tubes, epidurals, PCAs, and drip management.
• Insert and manage Foley catheters and conduct discharge planning.
• Utilize CRRT with Prismax, if experienced.
• Support and manage a variety of patient types including respiratory, medical, trauma, cardiovascular, surgical, and more.
• Float to MedSurg or ED as needed for patient support.

Requirements:

• 2 years of experience required.
• Skills in ventilator and trach management, suctioning, and more.
• BLS and PALS certifications required.
• Epic EMR experience preferred.
• Able to rotate every other weekend.
