DreamCare Counselor Job Description

Central Florida Dreamplex is dedicated to serving children and teens with special needs ages 5–18. Our Aftercare Program provides a safe, engaging, and supportive environment where students can grow, learn, and thrive.

Position Summary: Under the direct supervision of the Dreamplex Therapeutic School Director and AfterSchool Care Lead Counselor, the DreamCare Counselor supports the after-school program by ensuring a safe, clean, and positive environment. Counselors are role models who help foster strong relationships with children and families while reflecting the values of the Dreamplex.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supervise children at all times to maintain a safe environment
• Plan and implement age-appropriate activities for students in grades K–12
• Supervise and participate in outdoor play and activities
• Assist students during arrival and dismissal, including transitions from school buses to classrooms
• Provide assistance with diapering/toileting if needed
• Model positive behavior and support children's social and emotional growth
• Communicate effectively with the DTS Director and staff team
• Assist with cleaning duties (trash, bathrooms, sweeping, mopping, etc.)
• Build cooperative relationships with children, families, and staff

Qualifications:

• Must have a genuine love for working with children
• Detail-oriented, dependable, and organized
• Must be at least 16 years old
• Reliable transportation required
• Previous childcare experience (1 year preferred)
• CPR/First Aid Certification (preferred, but not required)

Schedule & Hours:

• Part-time, in-person
• Available a minimum of 3 shifts per week
• Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday: 2:30 pm – 6:00 pm
• Wednesday: 1:30 pm – 6:00 pm
