Project Coordinator

Must live in Metro Atlanta Area. We will not pay for relocation POSITION SUMMARY Johnson Construction Group is seeking a Project Coordinator to support our commercial and residential construction operations. This position works under the direction of our Project Managers and General Superintendent. You will keep project documentation organized and current, track materials and selections, help the field get what it needs when it needs it, and keep information moving between the jobsite and the office. You will split your time between our Newnan office and active jobsites. This is a coordination and documentation role, not a management role. You will not run projects and you will not carry budget responsibility. You will learn how projects are run by supporting the people who run them, and there is a clear path into a Project Manager or Superintendent seat for someone who earns it. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES Maintain and update project schedules built by the Project Manager Keep electronic and physical project files organized, current, and correctly named Track material orders, delivery dates, lead times, client selections, and outstanding approvals Assemble and file submittals, requests for information, purchase orders, permits, inspection records, and closeout documents Prepare and distribute meeting notes, action item lists, and project updates Collect pricing and information from subcontractors and vendors at the Project Manager's direction Visit jobsites to document progress, take photographs, record conditions, and note punch list items Produce clean field sketches and markups that other people can work from Flag missing information, conflicts, and anything that looks like it will cause a delay Follow up on assigned action items until they are closed Other project coordination and administrative duties as assigned COMPUTER AND TECHNOLOGY RESPONSIBILITIES Use Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel effectively every day Build and maintain spreadsheets, trackers, and reports without being walked through it Work inside our construction management, estimating, and document sharing software Enter information accurately the first time and keep records current Learn new software quickly. Our process runs on it. Communicate clearly and professionally by email, phone, text, and project platforms Candidates who advance will complete a 30 to 40 minute hands on computer exercise using Outlook, Excel, and Word. It is not a trick. It reflects what the job actually asks you to do. QUALIFICATIONS Construction knowledge is required. You do not need to be an expert, but you need to know what the words mean and what happens on a jobsite. Previous experience as a Project Coordinator, Construction Administrator, Field Coordinator, estimating assistant, or in a trade is preferred Strong computer skills, especially Excel Ability to read construction drawings, scopes of work, and project documents Strong organization and follow through. Nothing gets dropped. Accuracy and attention to detail Willingness to ask questions, take direction, and be corrected Honesty. This one is not negotiable. We would rather hear about a problem early than hear a good story late. A degree in construction management, business, or a related field is a plus and is not required OTHER REQUIREMENTS Valid driver's license and reliable transportation Willingness to travel locally between the office and project sites Ability to walk active construction sites and navigate uneven surfaces Ability to climb stairs and ladders when required Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally Positive, can do attitude Self starter with a strong work ethic Flexible and able to adjust to changing tasks, schedules, and project needs Willingness to attend technical training and develop new skills Commitment to safety, quality, professionalism, and customer service Must live in the Metro Atlanta area.
