This position is with Los Alamitos Unified School District. The salary range is $30.10 - $36.56 hourly. The job is part-time and is located at Oak Middle School, CA. The listing closes on 9/4/2026 at 4:00 PM Pacific Time (US & Canada); Tijuana.

The basic function of this role is to provide a wide range of technical and skilled nursing duties and physical care for Pre-K to age 22 students within the scope of practice for a Licensed Vocational Nurse. The duties include administering nursing services, performing specialized health care procedures, administering medications, maintaining records, responding to medical emergencies, providing first aid and CPR, and assisting with training staff on specialized healthcare procedures.

The representative duties include participating in the administration of nursing services, performing specialized health care procedures, administering medications, preparing and maintaining records, responding to medical emergencies, assisting with maintaining daily logs and medical records, providing physical care and emotional support, participating in various meetings, adjusting specialized wheelchairs and orthopedic devices, performing patient care, accompanying students on district transportation, performing necessary procedures for diabetic students, preparing reports, observing progress and behavior of students, traveling to district sites, maintaining orders for medications, assisting in the organization and presentation of health-related information, preparing medications and paperwork for students participating in extracurricular activities, administering first aid and CPR, assisting with training staff, assisting in planning and implementing suitable learning experiences, assisting students in using special equipment, assisting with community-based instruction, supervising students in and out of the classroom setting, performing clerical and recordkeeping activities, performing custodial duties, and performing other job-related duties as assigned.

The knowledge and abilities required include knowledge of nursing care principles and practices, applicable laws, child growth and development principles, health office practices, medical symptoms and conditions, uses and effects of prescribed medications, personal hygiene, health and safety regulations, first aid and CPR procedures, confidentiality laws, methods for effective cooperation, operation of a computer, record-keeping and report preparation techniques, interpersonal skills, emergency crisis management techniques, correct English usage, and ability to provide specialized health services, administer prescribed medications, perform specialized medical procedures, screen students, compile data and prepare reports, train and provide work direction, perform physically demanding work, make accurate mathematical calculations, perform routine clerical support duties, work independently, administer first aid and CPR, observe health and safety regulations, utilize health instruments and office equipment, interpret and apply laws, maintain confidentiality, communicate effectively, establish and maintain cooperative working relationships, complete work with interruptions, operate a computer, prepare and maintain records, work effectively within a team, demonstrate commitment to the district's mission, vision, and priority goals.

Education requirements include a high school diploma, GED, or certificate of completion, completion of a Licensed Vocational Nursing program approved by the California Board of Vocational Nursing and Psychiatric Technicians and board issued LVN license, a Registered Nurse license may be substituted, and a BA/BS degree from an accredited college or university is highly desirable. Experience requirements include one year of experience providing physical care to disabled persons or working in a health care service environment. The candidate must possess and maintain a valid California Vocational Nurse License, a Registered Nurse license may be substituted, valid First Aid and CPR Certificate.
