Process Improvement Engineer

Primary Function

The Process Improvement Engineer is responsible for developing and improving production processes via technical approaches and lean manufacturing techniques.

This role works with management, customers, suppliers, and others to identify and facilitate key projects that will improve quality, reduce costs, improve cycle time, and provide the optimum benefits to customers and the business through waste reduction.

Responsibilities:

• Leads multi-disciplinary teams in lean manufacturing initiatives such as SMED (Change over time reduction), 3P (Production Planning Process), structured problem solving (8D, A3, 5Y) and Kaizen.
• Plans, re-designs and organizes manufacturing workflows and production cells using lean methodologies with the support of the Production team and Engineering group.
• Develop future automation proposals and lead new automation implementation with support from Engineering.
• Provides technical support for AGV's and other automation as needed.
• Estimates production times, staffing requirements, and related costs as requested for CAPEX submissions.
• Generates work instructions and other documentation as needed to formalize improvement activity.
• Generates presentations and proposals for management review as requested.
• Provides input and support to the Engineering group on machine specifications and capital projects as requested.
• Other duties and responsibilities as required.
