Senior Continuous Improvement Leader

$168.8k - $253.2k

Schneider Electric

Senior Continuous Improvement Program Leader (Master Black Belt)
drives high-impact transformation across North America Global Supply Chain operations. This role leads strategic improvement projects focused on reducing costs, scrap, and warranty claims while improving quality, yield, productivity, and customer satisfaction.

This position requires travel up to 50% within North America

While this role has no direct reports, successful candidates will bring mentorship experience and the ability to lead, influence, and support cross-functional teams without formal people-management authority.

Key Responsibilities

High-Impact Project Portfolio:

Build, prioritize, and execute a NAM GSC continuous improvement portfolio focused on the largest operational and quality losses. Lead complex, cross-functional projects that deliver validated financial benefits, with individual initiatives expected to generate significant savings and the overall portfolio expected to produce hundreds of thousands of dollars in annual improvement.

Scrap and Cost-of-Poor-Quality Reduction:

Drive breakthrough reductions in scrap, rework, defects, blocked inventory, and other cost-of-poor-quality drivers by applying Lean Six Sigma, advanced analytics, Design of Experiments, statistical process control, and structured root-cause problem solving.

Warranty and Customer Quality Improvement:

Lead initiatives that reduce warranty claims, field failures, returns, and repeat customer issues. Partner with manufacturing, engineering, supplier quality, customer satisfaction and quality, and commercial teams to convert critical customer problems into permanent corrective actions and measurable financial results.

NAM Priority Issue Resolution:

Work with NAM GSC Quality and Operations leadership to identify and solve the region's most critical business issues. Rapidly mobilize cross-functional teams, establish fact-based problem statements, remove barriers, and ensure improvements are sustained through effective controls and ownership.

Green Belt and Black Belt Academy:

Design and maintain a rigorous, scalable development pathway for Green Belt and Black Belt candidates across NAM GSC. Establish selection criteria, learning standards, certification requirements, coaching routines, and governance that create a strong and sustainable cohort of trained practitioners.

Training Delivery and University Partnerships:

Teach the classroom portion of Green Belt and Black Belt programs directly or coordinate delivery with established university and professional education partners. Ensure the curriculum is practical, statistically rigorous, aligned with Schneider Electric priorities, and reinforced through hands-on application.

Trainee Project Accountability:

Ensure every Green Belt and Black Belt trainee is assigned a well-scoped project tied to a meaningful NAM GSC business need. Challenge project charters, confirm baselines and benefit calculations, provide technical coaching, remove execution barriers, and hold candidates accountable for completed projects that deliver substantial, validated improvement and savings.

Financial Validation and Benefits Tracking:

Partner with Finance and functional leaders to define benefit-calculation standards, validate project savings, prevent double counting, and maintain a transparent project pipeline showing forecast, realized, and sustained benefits.

Capability Building and Coaching:

Coach site leaders, project sponsors, Black Belts, Green Belts, and cross-functional teams in Lean Six Sigma methods, data-based decision-making, change leadership, and sustainment. Build internal capability so that continuous improvement becomes embedded in daily management.

Governance and Executive Reporting:

Establish a disciplined operating rhythm for project reviews, risk escalation, certification progress, savings validation, and control-plan effectiveness. Provide concise executive updates on portfolio health, delivered value, capability growth, and the next wave of NAM opportunities.

Change Leadership:

Serve as a visible champion of Schneider Electric's continuous improvement culture. Influence across functions and sites, create urgency around the biggest losses, and ensure successful solutions are standardized, replicated, and sustained across NAM GSC.

Qualifications and Experience

Six Sigma Master Black Belt certification from ASQ or an equivalent recognized institution; Lean certification and advanced problem-solving credentials are strongly preferred.

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, Business, or a related discipline is required; a master's degree is preferred.

Extensive experience leading continuous improvement in a complex manufacturing or supply-chain environment, including responsibility for multi-site or regional transformation programs.

Demonstrated record of completed Black Belt and Master Black Belt projects delivering substantial, finance-validated savings through scrap reduction, warranty reduction, productivity, yield improvement, inventory reduction, or process optimization.

Proven ability to identify high-value opportunities, convert strategic priorities into executable project charters, and manage a portfolio from definition through control and benefit realization.

Expert-level command of DMAIC, Lean, Design of Experiments, measurement system analysis, hypothesis testing, regression, statistical process control, capability analysis, failure analysis, and change management.

Demonstrated success designing and teaching Green Belt and Black Belt curricula, coaching candidates through certification, and partnering with universities or external learning providers.

Strong financial and business acumen, including experience validating project benefits with Finance and communicating results to senior executives.

Exceptional facilitation, influencing, and executive communication skills, with the credibility to challenge assumptions, align diverse stakeholders, and drive accountability without relying on direct authority.

Advanced proficiency in Minitab and Microsoft Office applications, with the ability to translate complex analysis into clear operational actions and teach others to do the same.

Ability to travel across NAM sites as required to lead critical projects, coach teams, and accelerate replication of proven improvements.
