The Baltimore VA Medical Center (VAMC) is part of the VA Maryland Health Care System and serves Veterans across the Baltimore region. Affiliated with the University of Maryland Medical Center and connected to it via a sky bridge, the facility offers a full range of inpatient and outpatient services, including advanced specialties such as oncology, rehabilitation, and mental health care. Notably, it was the first medical center in the world to establish a filmless radiology department, reflecting its commitment to innovation and technology. The Baltimore VAMC also features a Radiation Oncology Clinical Care Center equipped with state-of-the-art systems, making it a key site for highly skilled professionals in medical physics, dosimetry, and radiation therapy. Greene Street, Baltimore, MD 21201 Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m. Position Summary The Baltimore VA Medical Center seeks a Board-Certified Therapeutic Medical Physicist (TMP) to provide advanced clinical physics support in radiation therapy, ensuring accurate treatment planning, dose delivery, and patient safety. The TMP will collaborate closely with radiation oncologists, dosimetrists, and therapists to deliver high-quality, evidence-based patient care Key Responsibilities Support the clinical physics operations of the Radiation Oncology Service Perform QA procedures, calibrations, and dose verification following AAPM standards Participate in treatment planning and validation for 2D/3D Conformal, SRS, SRT, SBRT, and IMRT/VMAT modalities Oversee IGRT, cone beam CT imaging, and treatment equipment QA Conduct weekly and end-of-treatment chart reviews Maintain full clinical documentation in CPRS and ensure compliance with VA standards Qualifications Education: MS or PhD in Medical Physics or related discipline Certification: Board Certification in Medical Physics or Therapeutic Medical Physics by the ABR (required) Experience: Minimum 2 years of continuous work experience within the last 3 years Experience with: QA procedures (Sun Nuclear/SunCheck preferred) ACR or ASTRO APeX accreditation Varian Linear Accelerators (Edge or equivalent) IGRT with Cone Beam CT (TG-142 standards) Eclipse/ARIA systems (2D/3D Conformal, SRS, SRT, SBRT, IMRT/VMAT per TG-53) IMRT QA (MapCheck I/II or equivalent) Siemens SOMATOM goOpen Pro CT Simulator (TG-66 standards) Preferred: Familiarity with the VA CPRS system and prior VA or federal healthcare experience.
