Contract | Days | 4x12-Hour Shifts | 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM

Key Responsibilities

• Provide high-acuity cardiovascular critical care in a 19-bed CVICU, including immediate post-operative care for open-heart surgery patients at a 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratio
• Manage complex cardiac diagnoses including post-operative CABG, valve repair/replacement, aortic aneurysm/dissection, cardiogenic shock, acute myocardial infarction, acute heart failure, and respiratory failure
• Operate and monitor advanced mechanical circulatory support devices including ECMO circuits, Intra-Aortic Balloon Pumps (IABP), and Impella
• Manage mechanical ventilation, BiPAP/CPAP, HFNC, ABG interpretation, and continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT/CVVHD)
• Titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips; administer continuous IV sedation, neuromuscular blockade, emergency medications, and procedural sedation
• Float to MICU or STU/NEU as needed based on facility needs; document using Epic; participate in self-scheduling with every third weekend required

Required Qualifications

• Active, valid RN licensure in the state of Pennsylvania required at time of submission
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of strong CVICU experience required; first-time travelers are not accepted
• Required clinical experience includes: dysrhythmia interpretation and management, 12-lead EKG/ECG, CABG and post-cardiac surgery care, pre/post cardiac catheterization and intervention, CVP and Swan-Ganz/Pulmonary Artery Line monitoring, epicardial pacing wire management, Impella and IABP, CRRT/CVVHD and renal failure management, arterial line/central line/PICC and blood product administration, and cardiac/vasoactive drip titration
• Proficiency with Epic EMR required
• Local candidates are welcome; a local rate differential applies for those residing within 50 miles of the facility

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Community hospital experience preferred
• Experience with Baxter infusion pumps and chest drainage systems preferred
• Familiarity with temporary pacemakers and invasive arterial pressure monitoring preferred
