We are looking for an Underwriter I to join our underwriting team in Bala Cynwyd, PA!

Summary: Evaluates property & casualty insurance applications to determine the risk involved: decides to accept or reject the application; determines appropriate premium.

A typical day will include the following:

• Assists in determining the acceptability, conditions and pricing of specific property & casualty insurance risks and associated coverage.
• Maintains familiarity with the products, services, priorities and target markets in the property & casualty line of business or insurance segment.
• Maintains familiarity with the loss experience and business conditions of key accounts as well as loss trends and any major legal or economic factors affecting the property & casualty line of business.
• Communicates effectively with colleagues in underwriting and all support areas in order to meet the property & casualty insurance needs of customers.
• May accompany senior underwriter or marketing representative on appointments in assigned territory and industry events.
• May develop and maintain relationships with agency representatives.

Qualifications:

• Two to five years of experience in commercial multi-lines property and casualty underwriting
• Commercial Automobile/Dealers coverage experience a plus
• College Degree or equivalent experience preferred but not required
• Must have attention-to-detail skills and possess a strong degree of organization
• Must be analytical, results-oriented, and possess a strong sense of urgency,
• Must have good people and agency relationship building skills
