Principal CNC Machinist/Programmer

Principal CNC Machinist/Programmer – VTL – Aerospace & Defense Large, complex component (30" + Diameter) on VTL. Hands‑On, Shop‑Floor Role. Salary: $60 – $78 per hour. Job Overview We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Principal CNC Machinist/Programmer to join our dynamic team. You will be a key player in the production process, responsible for setting up and operating CNC machines, creating and modifying programs, and ensuring all parts meet the highest quality standards. You will work with materials such as titanium, monel, and aluminum, and play a crucial role in ongoing process improvement efforts. Key Responsibilities Set up and operate VTL CNC machines, ensuring all parts are produced to the highest quality. Create and modify CNC programs using extensive knowledge of machining processes and programming languages. Inspect finished parts to ensure they meet specifications, using precision measuring tools. Work with materials such as titanium, monel, and aluminum, ensuring safe and effective machining processes. Contribute to ongoing process improvement efforts, identifying areas where efficiency can be improved. Train and mentor junior machinists, sharing expertise and developing the next generation of CNC machinists. Maintain a clean and safe work environment, adhering to all safety protocols and procedures. Work closely with the production team, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure all projects are completed on time and to the highest standard. Qualifications Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a VTL CNC Machinist/Programmer in a manufacturing environment. Extensive knowledge of and experience with materials such as titanium, monel, stainless, and copper. Proven experience in process improvement, with a track record of identifying and implementing efficiency gains. Excellent CAD/CAM programming skills, with a thorough understanding of programming languages (Fusion 360). Strong problem‑solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot issues and find effective solutions. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively train and mentor junior staff. Strong commitment to safety, with a track record of maintaining a clean and safe work environment. Ability to work well as part of a team, collaborating with colleagues and stakeholders at all levels.
