Legal Intern- Tulane/Loyola Law Student Preferred Hernandez Consulting Inc. | New Orleans, LA Paid Internship | $25/hour Hernandez Consulting is seeking a highly motivated law student for a paid internship supporting the company's Chief Financial Officer/General Counsel on legal, compliance, contract, and corporate administrative matters. The ideal candidate is currently enrolled at Tulane University Law School or Loyola University New Orleans College of Law and is familiar with Louisiana law and legal research resources. This internship is designed for a JD student interested in practical corporate legal work, contract review, compliance, government contracting, and business operations. The intern will work directly with the CFO/General Counsel and gain hands-on exposure to the legal issues that support the management of a growing government contracting and construction firm. What You’ll Do Reviewing, organizing, and summarizing contracts, agreements, leases, corporate documents, and other legal materials Conducting legal research, with particular emphasis on Louisiana law, regulations, and applicable legal authorities Supporting legal and compliance research related to government contracting, corporate governance, and business operations Identifying key contractual terms, obligations, risks, deadlines, and issues for attorney review Preparing legal and business summaries, memos, research notes, and recommendations for internal decision-making Supporting contract administration, document management, and internal process improvements Assisting with research related to regulations, risk, insurance, vendor agreements, corporate policies, and compliance requirements Providing limited support on financial or business analysis when legal matters intersect with company operations What You’ll Gain This is a hands-on opportunity to work closely with senior leadership and see how legal decisions are made inside a growing company. The intern will gain exposure to: Corporate legal work and CFO/General Counsel-level decision support Contract review, interpretation, and legal issue spotting Louisiana legal research and practical application of state law Government contracting compliance and administration Corporate governance, risk management, and internal controls Executive-level business operations in a small-business government contracting environment Ideal Candidate We are looking for a JD student who is analytical, detail-oriented, discreet, and comfortable working with confidential business and legal information. Strong candidates will have: Current enrollment in a JD program at Tulane University Law School or Loyola University New Orleans College of Law Excellent legal writing, research, and communication skills Familiarity with Louisiana law and legal research resources Strong analytical judgment and attention to detail Ability to review legal and business documents and identify key issues Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel Interest in corporate law, contracts, government contracting, construction, compliance, risk, or business operations Ability to work independently, manage deadlines, and handle sensitive information professionally Prior exposure to contracts, legal research, compliance, government contracting, corporate governance, or business operations is a plus Prior military experience or familiarity with veteran-owned business programs is a plus Location This is a paid internship based in New Orleans, Louisiana.
