JOB TITLE: Radiology Receptionist

REPORTS TO: Department Manager

1.  Provides clerical, secretarial and administrative support to the specific department to which he/she is assigned.  

2.  Receives, prioritizes and responds to incoming calls as appropriate.

3.  Greet patients, work directly with patients to schedule procedures; performs order entry for procedures to assist staff and physicians, performs billing audits and charge capture, submits     changes to patient accounts, verifies coding, works with patients and trouble shoots scheduling concerns.

4.  Makes copies of reports, burns CD's for patients, downloads images into PACS system, works with mail, files, stocking office supplies; related clerical duties pertaining to the department needs.

5.  Delivers records and images to the appropriate physician(s), patients or other hospital personnel.

6.  Answers the telephone in a polite and courteous manner.  Takes messages as appropriate.

7.  Ensures all equipment is in working order at the beginning of the day and prior to starting of a procedure.  Reports any equipment malfunctions or items in need of repair to supervisor, manager or director.

8.  Works with the patient EMR to assist patients, physicians and staff with patient care information.

    Sufficient previous experience preferred, including familiarity with medical terminology (on-the-job training may be provided)

    High school diploma or equivalent

TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

• Rarely exposed to the risk of blood borne diseases
• May be exposed to infections and contagious diseases
• Contact with patients under wide variety of circumstances
• May be exposed to patient elements and unpleasant situations (accidents, injuries, and illness)
• Subject to varying and unpredictable situations
• Handles emergency or crisis situations
• Occasionally subjected to irregular hours
• Occasional pressure due to multiple calls, schedule changes and patient groups
• Exposed to hazards from electrical/mechanical/power equipment
