Role Description The Overseas Account Settlement Specialist is a full-time, on-site role based in Franklin Park, IL. This position is responsible for managing international account settlements, including reviewing and reconciling invoices, verifying overseas charges, and ensuring accurate and timely billing to customers and partners. The specialist communicates regularly with overseas offices, agents, and internal teams to resolve discrepancies, clarify documentation, and align financial records. Day-to-day tasks include monitoring account balances, preparing settlement reports, maintaining detailed records in the company’s systems, and supporting month-end closing activities related to international freight movements. The role also involves collaborating with operations and customer service teams to address account queries, enhance settlement processes, and uphold Mainfreight’s standards of service and financial accuracy.

Qualifications

• Strong financial and accounting skills, including experience with account reconciliation, invoice review, and billing for international transactions.

• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple accounts, deadlines, and documentation simultaneously.

• Solid communication and collaboration skills for working with overseas partners, internal teams, and customers in a professional and clear manner.

• Proficiency with office and financial software (e.g., Excel and CargoWise) and comfort learning new digital tools used in logistics and accounting.

• Understanding of international logistics or freight forwarding processes is highly beneficial; prior experience in supply chain, transportation, or logistics is a plus.

• Ability to work on-site in Franklin Park, IL, demonstrating reliability, accountability, and a commitment to continuous improvement.

• Relevant education such as an associate or bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

• Capacity to analyze data, identify discrepancies, and propose solutions that support accurate settlements and strong customer relationships.
