Job Description
Job Title: Cardiothoracic ICU Nurse - CVICU

Schedule:
- Shift Length: 12-hour shifts
- Unit Ratio: 1:2

Assignment Details:
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Contracted Hours: 36 or 48 hours/week (clinician choice; facility may call off up to 3 times)

Requirements:
- Years of Experience: 2 years
- Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS
- Experience: CVICU experience preferred; Trauma Level II experience required
- Core Clinical Skills:
- Post-op cardiac surgery care
- Ventilator management
- Vasoactive/vasopressor titration
- CRRT/CVVHD management
- ECMO management
- Mechanical circulatory support
- Invasive monitoring techniques
- Chest tube management, NG/FOLEY placement
- EMR: Cerner preferred

Roles & Responsibilities:
- Monitor and assess patients in the cardiothoracic ICU.
- Provide post-operative care for cardiac surgery patients.
- Administer and titrate vasoactive medications as ordered.
- Manage ventilator settings and monitor respiratory status.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to optimize patient care.
- Maintain accurate documentation of patient progress and interventions.

Compliance / Notes:
- Must work 2 out of 3 holiday bundles (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's).
- Orientation: 72 hours
- Break rules: 6-month break required after 1 year or 4 consecutive assignments; former staff need 12-month separation for return.
