We are seeking an experienced Kitchen Manager / Bakery Production Lead to oversee day-to-day back-of-house production for a high-volume bakery café in Springfield, VA.

This is a hands-on leadership opportunity for someone with strong baking and production experience who can lead a BOH team while maintaining quality, consistency, food safety, organization, and production standards.

The ideal candidate has direct experience with the bake side of production and is comfortable supporting multiple production areas, including baking, sandwiches, cakes, and other back-of-house operations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and support daily back-of-house production and team operations
• Oversee the bake/production team and help maintain consistent product quality
• Support baking, preparation, and production processes according to established recipes and standards
• Coordinate production priorities and staffing based on business needs
• Train, coach, and develop BOH team members
• Monitor product quality, consistency, cleanliness, and food safety
• Assist with inventory, ordering, waste control, and proper product rotation
• Help identify and resolve production and kitchen issues
• Work collaboratively with the café/FOH leadership team
• Step in hands-on when needed to support production and team members
• Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient production environment

What We're Looking For:

• Previous bakery, baking, pastry, or high-volume food production experience
• Leadership experience as a Kitchen Manager, Bakery Manager, Production Manager, Lead Baker, Pastry Manager, Kitchen Lead, or similar role
• Strong understanding of baking and bakery production
• Ability to lead a team while remaining hands-on
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
• Strong organization and attention to detail
• Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
• Ability to learn and support multiple production teams
• Strong communication and team leadership skills

Schedule:

The bake and sandwich production teams currently begin around 4:00 AM, while the cake team generally begins around 6:00 AM. Candidates must be comfortable with early-morning production schedules and have flexibility based on operational needs.

Compensation:

$45,000 - $60,000 annually, based on experience.
