System Software Engineer

System Software Engineer This role is on‑site with an expectation to work primarily from an HPE office. Job Overview Design, develop, troubleshoot and debug software programs for software enhancements and new products. Design and develop software for large‑scale distributed systems. Gather system requirements from product managers, customers, architects, development engineers, system testers, and customer advocates for service platforms. Responsibilities Design enhancements, updates, and programming changes for portions and subsystems of systems software, including operating systems, compilers, networking, utilities, databases, and Internet‑related tools. Analyze design and determine coding, programming, and integration activities required based on general objectives and overall architecture. Write and execute complete testing plans, protocols, and documentation for assigned portions; identify and debug issues with code and integration. Lead a project team of other software systems engineers and internal and outsourced development partners to develop reliable, cost‑effective, and high‑quality solutions. Collaborate and communicate with management, internal and outsourced partners regarding software systems design status, project progress, and issue resolution. Represent the software systems engineering team for all phases of larger and more complex development projects. Provide guidance and mentoring to less experienced staff members. Educational Requirements Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent. 4+ years of experience in software development. Knowledge and Skills Expertise in multiple software systems design tools and languages. Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills. Experience with programming languages: Go, Python, Java. Experience with distributed systems and microservice architectures using Docker, Kubernetes, Kafka. Experience with RESTful APIs, RPC frameworks, WebSockets. Experience with database and big data technologies, including ElasticSearch, OpenSearch, Spark, DynamoDB, Cassandra, MongoDB, PostgreSQL. Deep understanding of SQL and NoSQL databases. Understanding of fundamental machine‑learning concepts and integration patterns for production systems. Experience with software development that interfaces with ML models and AI services.
