Staff Accountant

About this role: Pickle is seeking a dynamic and driven Staff Accountant to help shape the future of warehouse automation. You’ll have the opportunity to build processes and influence the culture within our growing finance and accounting team. You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams to optimize cost efficiency and drive financial insights that impact the entire organization. This role offers an exciting chance to directly contribute to the company’s financial health while steering key operational improvements—including hands-on work to scale our inventory and billing systems as we grow in volume and complexity. \n Responsibilities: Manage travel and expense transactions, programs, and policies for the organization. Assist with vendor procurement and payment processes, as well as customer revenue accounting, including invoicing and collections. Assist in monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes, ensuring timely and accurate reporting of cost-related financials. Partner with our Sr. Accountant and Sr. Director of Finance in scaling Pickle Robot’s accounting practices. Develop and improve cost accounting procedures, systems, and policies to align with best practices and changing business needs. Analyze manufacturing costs, inventory valuation, and production overheads to ensure proper allocation and compliance with financial regulations. Partner with operations and production teams to track and monitor material, labor, and overhead costs to identify areas for improvement. Maintain the integrity of inventory records through regular audits and reconciliations, ensuring accurate financial reporting. Own data mapping and reconciliation processes across inventory and revenue streams—identifying discrepancies between planned and actual figures, tracing root causes, and resolving mismatches before they compound downstream. Support the buildout of scalable inventory and billing workflows as transaction volume and complexity grow—bringing the rigor needed to ensure configurations are audit-ready, operationally sound, and defensible under scrutiny. Participate in system implementations and integrations, including pre-cutover validation and testing (UAT or equivalent), helping ensure data integrity across connected platforms. Provide strategic recommendations to senior management based on cost analysis and financial performance. Assist in forecasting and budgeting processes, providing insights into cost drivers and their impact on the overall financial outlook. Ensure compliance with GAAP and other relevant accounting standards, regulations, and company policies. Skills: An accountant with 2+ years of experience in accounting, with a strong focus on cost accounting in a manufacturing, inventory, or production environment. Experienced in inventory accounting and billing/revenue processes—you may have owned these areas directly or been a close contributor on a team that did. What matters is that you understand how the pieces connect and what breaks when they don’t. Comfortable with system reconciliation and data mapping: tracing discrepancies between source records and financial systems, cleaning up messy data, and thinking through how setup decisions ripple into audits, reporting, and downstream workflows. Familiar with ERP implementations or system migrations—including pre-cutover testing or UAT (regardless of platform)—and understand what’s at stake when you’re validating data before a system goes live. A graduate of a bachelor’s degree program in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred. CPA certification preferred. An expert in industry-standard accounting software (e.g., SAP, QuickBooks, Oracle, NetSuite, or other ERP systems) and advanced Excel skills. Experienced with corporate sales and state tax filings. Familiar with Avalara or other similar tax compliance platforms. Strongly analytical, with the ability to connect dots across complex processes, interpret ambiguous data, and deliver clear, actionable insights—especially where inventory planning and revenue recognition intersect. Detail-oriented and adept at delivering excellent results to meet aggressive deadlines. Experienced in process improvement, cost control, and variance analysis in a fast-paced environment. A strong communicator, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, including external customers and vendors. Knowledgeable about GAAP and other relevant accounting standards, regulations, and compliance requirements. Experienced working in the technology sector. Robotics experience is a big plus! We often consider candidates at different levels of seniority, and final compensation will reflect the level at which a candidate is hired, along with factors like experience and location.
