Location: Moody Outpatient Center 4th Floor
Location: Employee Health Center Primary Purpose This role functions as an integral member of the medical home team in providing direct patient care. This role assists physicians, mid level providers, nurses, and other medical staff by performing administrative and clinical duties under the direction of physician. This role reports to the nurse manager or designee, who is responsible for administrative supervision and orientation to the area's policies and procedures. This role obtains vital signs, perform preventive screenings, maintains an inventory of appropriate supplies, ensures safe and efficient patient flow, tracks high-risk referrals and lab tests, facilitates safe transitions of care, organizes the practice environment to assure patient safety and quality health outcomes, and contributes to HEDIS and designated quality measures. The individual displays responsible behaviors, communicates effectively to others and functions at the highest level based on scope of practice. Education *Must have completed training through an accredited Medical Assistant training program. Experience *None. Certification/Registration/Licensure *Must have a current healthcare provider BLS for Healthcare Providers certification within 90 days of hire and/or placement in job from one of the following:- American Heart Association
- American Red Cross Rescuer
- Military Training Network

- May administer unit dose medications under the direction of the delegating physician according to departmental policies and procedures after successful completion of competencies and signed Physician-MA delegation form.
- Identifies ways to improve work processes and improve customer satisfaction. Makes recommendations to supervisor, implements, and monitors results as appropriate in support of the overall goals of the department and Parkland.
- Stays abreast of the latest developments, advancements, and trends in the field by attending seminars/workshops, reading professional journals, actively participating in professional organizations, and/or maintaining certification or licensure. Integrates knowledge gained into current work practices.
- Maintains knowledge of applicable rules, regulations, policies, laws and guidelines that impact the area. Develops effective internal controls designed to promote adherence with applicable laws, accreditation agency requirements, and federal, state, and private health plans. Seeks advice and guidance as needed to ensure proper understanding.
