JOB LOCATION: Duke Triangle Heart Associates - 1821 Hillandale Rd

JOB SUMMARY: We are seeking a Cardiac Sonographer to provide patient and provider support by using cardiac ultrasound imaging technologies to aid in diagnosing and treating cardiac conditions at our Duke Cardiology Ambulatory clinics in Durham, Morrisville and Cary locations.

JOB DUTIES:

• Consistently demonstrates with accuracy proficient performance of routine and urgent echocardiograms, including but not limited to 2-dimensional, 3- dimensional, Doppler, 2D Strain, and Stress Echocardiogram, as requested by physician and in accordance with standard practices.
• Operate GE, Philips, Siemens and other ultrasound equipment necessary to perform all required procedures.
• Appropriately uses echo reporting system (Lumedx), CardioPACS, ISCV (PACS), GE MUSE, and GE Case systems.
• Maintain equipment in working order, making minor adjustments and notify appropriate resources for repairs.
• Ability to thoroughly and efficiently evaluate pathology following current guidelines (American Society of Echocardiography (ASE), American College of Cardiology (ACC), etc.) in addition to standard DHIP echocardiography protocols and IAC-Echo standards and guidelines.
• Participate in all required aspects of quality improvement activities as needed for Joint Commission, and IAC-Echo Accreditations. This would include evaluation of procedure results for technical quality and accuracy, maintenance of appropriate logs, files, and records.
• Attends required staff meetings and ensures continuing education requirements are met to support professional growth and certification.
• Analyze patient's medical record to obtain history of symptoms and necessary information for performance of diagnostic procedures.
• Communicates technical and patient care related information according to established processes and timelines. Respond to patient questions about procedures and equipment prior to starting the imaging process.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS)/Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) Certification in Adult Echocardiography (RDCS or RCS respectively), Canadian Registered Cardiac Sonographer (CRCS), or CCI Advanced Cardiac Sonographer (ACS) certification. Registry eligible candidates must obtain ARDMS/CCI credential within one year of hire date. Individuals cross-trained in echocardiography or working to fulfill clinical experience to meet pre-requisites for credentialing must obtain certification within two years from the start of training.
