Title: Planner - Planning and Zoning FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Salary Range: $52,292 - $82,501 Status: Full-time, Onsite Job Purpose The Planner position will provide responsible administrative support in the Planning and Zoning department, performing short and long‑range planning and zoning activities. Responsibilities include research, analysis, designing and facilitating community planning processes and consulting various industry‑related Boards and Commissions. Work performed under the direction of the Director. Responsibilities Current & Long-Range Planning: perform professional work on planning assignments, prepare text amendments to codes and ordinances, manage planning studies, review development applications and consultant proposals, process comprehensive plan amendments, conduct research and prepare statistical reports, complete special projects. Advisory Board Oversight: prepare agenda items, schedule and conduct meetings with advisory boards, serve as liaison to City Boards and Commissions, present to boards. Project Management: perform field inspections to gather data, prepare RFPs for grant projects, coordinate with consultants, engineers, and bidders, monitor planning programs with associated agencies. Miscellaneous: coordinate department projects with other departments and agencies, write monthly newsletter articles, respond to professional and citizen questions, attend professional meetings, seminars, training, perform other duties as directed. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in urban planning, environmental design or related accredited field required; Master's preferred. Professional experience: 0-2 years with a Master's, or 1-3 years with a Bachelor's or unrelated Master's.
