About the Role:
Candis Inc in Roanoke, VA is looking for a compassionate and dedicated State Licensed Medication Aide (SLMA) to join our caring team. Responsibilities:
- Administer prescribed medications to residents accurately and in accordance with state regulations and facility policies
- Document medication administration and report any changes in resident condition to nursing staff
- Monitor residents for adverse reactions or side effects and escalate concerns promptly
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) and personal care as needed
- Maintain accurate medication records and ensure proper medication storage and handling
- Communicate effectively with residents, families, and interdisciplinary care team members
- Follow all infection control, safety, and compliance protocols within the facility
Requirements:
- Valid Virginia State License as a Medication Aide (SLMA) required
- Current CNA certification preferred or required per facility guidelines
- Prior experience in a long-term care, assisted living, or residential care setting preferred
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to medication administration accuracy
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a resident-centered approach
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a care team
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work various shifts including weekends and holidays
