Healthy Living Lead--Houston Texans YMCA

Position Summary Provides excellent service to members in a safe, enjoyable, and positive environment that promotes member wellness, engagement and healthy living in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures. Essential Functions Promotes and incorporates the YMCA five core values and character development model into all program activities. Assists the Healthy Living Director with administrative duties such as scheduling, training and communicating with other floor staff. Ensures compliance with Healthy Living standards and policies. Assists members on the wellness floor and upholds safety standards. Monitors the wellness floor to ensure proper and safe use of equipment, responding to and reporting accidents and incidents. Monitors the condition of the exercise equipment and reports any necessary repairs. Keeps the exercise equipment neat and orderly, including cleaning the equipment. Responds to member questions or concerns. Builds effective relationships with members; helps members connect with each other and the YMCA, and promotes personal training and other programs offered. Maintains working knowledge of wellness trends to provide effective information and support to members. Follows YMCA policies and procedures; responds to emergency situations. Attends mandatory trainings and meetings. Reports suspicious and inappropriate behaviors and policy violations. Follows mandated abuse and incident reporting requirements. Meets timelines and deadlines related to supporting systems and employee compliance, including use of Kronos Workforce Ready for review and approval of timesheets. Qualifications At least 21 years of age. CPR, First Aid, AED certifications and Child Abuse prevention training upon hire. Previous related work experience preferred. Previous experience working with diverse populations preferred. Language Skills Ability to read, interpret, retain, and teach documents such as safety rules, operating maintenance instructions, and procedure/educational manuals; write routine reports and correspondence; and speak effectively before groups of children, parents, staff, members, or others, including one‑on‑one situations. Mathematical Skills Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Reasoning Ability Ability to apply common sense, understanding, and sound judgment to carry out instructions, assist with curriculum learning, handle problems involving multiple variables, maintain confidentiality, be sensitive and alert to the needs, feelings, and safety of others, and ensure children’s safety while maintaining YMCA and state standards and guidelines. Physical Demands Regularly required to stand, walk, talk, and hear; frequently uses hands to handle objects, tools, or controls; climbs, balances, stoops, kneels, crouches, and/or crawls; reaches with hands and arms; tastes and smells; frequently lifts up to 50 pounds and moves up to 100 pounds (e.g., furniture, supplies, equipment, children). Requires adequate vision and hearing to monitor environment and children. Work Environment Works outdoors in varying weather conditions; non‑smoking and drug‑ and alcohol‑free environment; moderate noise levels, occasionally loud; occasional exposure to fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme heat, or blood; exposure to bodily excretions of children depending on developmental level.
