Are you the type of Accountant who likes rolling up your sleeves, taking ownership, and actually getting things done? A well-established service organization in the West Baltimore county area is seeking an experienced Accountant to join its small accounting team. This is an outstanding opportunity for an Accountant who enjoys hands-on accounting work, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and isn't afraid to jump into the details.
This role can accommodate either a full-time or part-time schedule. The organization is looking for someone who can step in quickly, help stabilize day-to-day processes and assist with a cleanup of bank reconciliations, and serve as a reliable accounting resource for the team.
Job Duties of the Accountant:
- Process approximately 200 monthly customer invoices using an industry-specific accounting platform
- Perform weekly billing and maintain accurate customer account records
- Complete high-volume bank reconciliations and manage cash movement between accounts
- Assist with payroll processing and serve as backup when needed
- Prepare journal entries and maintain the general ledger
- Support month-end and year-end closing activities
- Generate reports and provide accounting data to leadership
- Research and resolve accounts receivable and accounts payable discrepancies as needed
- Respond professionally to client inquiries regarding invoices and account activity
- Experience in a hands-on accounting role such as Bookkeeper, Staff Accountant, Senior Accountant, Accounting Manager, or similar
- Strong understanding of full-cycle accounting processes
- Experience with bank reconciliations, billing, and month-end close
- Payroll experience or willingness to support payroll functions as needed
- Strong Excel skills and overall technical aptitude
- Excellent communication skills
- Highly organized, deadline-driven, self motivated, and able to work independently
- Flexible schedule with both full-time and part-time options available
