Traveling Fiber SplicerPosition Overview

We are seeking an experienced Fiber Splicer to support fiber optic installation, splicing, testing, troubleshooting, and documentation activities in data center, hyperscale, and outdoor environments. This role requires strong hands-on fiber experience, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety and quality.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform fusion splicing on single-mode and multi-mode fiber optic cables, including loose tube, ribbon, and high-density fiber.
• Prepare, route, organize, and terminate fiber within splice enclosures, panels, trays, cabinets, and related infrastructure.
• Conduct fiber testing using OTDR, OLTS, visual fault locators, and other testing equipment.
• Troubleshoot and repair fiber issues, including signal loss, damaged fibers, connector issues, and documentation discrepancies.
• Read and update splice diagrams, cable schematics, test results, and as-built documentation.
• Maintain accurate splice records, production reports, test results, and equipment logs.
• Coordinate with project teams to ensure work is completed on schedule and meets quality standards.
• Follow all company and site-specific safety procedures and maintain tools, equipment, and vehicles.

Required Qualifications

• Experience with fiber optic fusion splicing and testing.
• Proficiency using OTDR, OLTS, and other fiber testing equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret fiber schematics and construction drawings.
• Strong troubleshooting, organizational, and documentation skills.
• Commitment to safe work practices and quality workmanship.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, bend, stoop, kneel, and crawl for extended periods.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces.
• Ability to work in all weather conditions.
• Ability to accurately identify and distinguish fiber color codes.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in data center, hyperscale, or outside plant (OSP) environments.
• Experience with high-count fiber cables and large-scale fiber deployments.
• Relevant telecommunications, fiber, or safety certifications.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of El Paso, TX.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $35.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
