Explosive Ordnance Disposal Technician

Cruz Associates Inc. of Yorktown, VA has an open position and is looking for qualified candidates for an Ordnance Technician I. The job location is at the Naval Surface Warfare Center in Indian Head, MD.

Scope of Performance: This position is that of an Ordnance Technician I, Naval Surface Warfare Center, Indian Head MD. This position will be full-time technician, including shift work, and shall be subject to Department of Transportation physical examinations and certification requirements. Technician will work in all explosive and chemical processing areas as determined by management or COR. Technician MUST be able to support varying shifts including swing and night shifts at the request of management or COR.

Key Responsibilities:

* Perform a variety of duties that include, but not limited to, operation of energetic equipment, operation of energetic transport vehicles, and storage of energetic material

* Responsible for inspection of energetic and hazardous material

* Understanding and utilizing hazardous waste practices for transport and storage per base and state/federal regulations

* Maintain records and track shipments of energetic and hazardous material

* Responsible for following Standard Operating Procedures for production of energetic/hazardous material

* Use of equipment including, but not limited to, forklifts, trucks, and other various lifting equipment for transportation of energetic and hazardous materials

* Maintain an accurate inventory of assets utilizing automated information systems and/or paper logbooks

* Assists fellow departments to streamline flow of materials

* Follow written procedures, guidelines, and standard operating procedures (SOP)

Education and Experience - Required:

* High School Diploma or equivalent

* Previous experience in ordnance or weapons systems a plus

* Inventory, warehouse, and/or hands on experience a plus

* U.S. Citizen and valid driver's license

* Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance

* Ability to wear, utilize, and maintain respirator qualification

* Ability to pass Ammo-18 Certification class

* Ability to work with automated computer systems and Microsoft Office products

* Ability to communicate with all levels of personnel, both military and private industry
