On-Call Caregiver (Childcare & Companion Care) – Jovie of Des Moines

Location: Des Moines & surrounding metro areas
Pay: $15/hour (on-call department)
Growth Opportunities: $16–$20/hour (long-term placements)

Jovie of Des Moines is hiring  compassionate, dependable on-call caregivers to support families and individuals throughout the Des Moines area. This role is ideal for caregivers who enjoy  flexibility, variety, and meaningful work , with the opportunity to move into higher-paying, consistent placements over time.

Position Overview

As an  on-call caregiver , you may work with:

• Children and families needing backup or short-term childcare
• Adults or seniors needing  companion care , supervision, and daily support

Assignments vary based on family or client needs and may include daytime, evening, or weekend opportunities.

Pay & Advancement

• $15/hour for on-call caregiving assignments
• Opportunity to transition into  long-term placements
• Placement roles offer  higher pay ranging from $16–$19/hour , depending on experience, availability, and role type

Childcare Support May Include:

• Providing safe, attentive care for children of various ages
• Engaging children in age-appropriate activities and play
• Assisting with meals, naps, and routines
• Light cleanup related to care activities

Companion Care May Include:

• Providing companionship and social engagement
• Assisting with daily routines and supervision
• Light household tasks such as meal prep or tidying
• Offering a supportive and caring presence

Qualifications

• Experience in caregiving, childcare, or companion care (professional or personal)
• Compassionate, patient, and dependable demeanor
• Reliable transportation
• Strong communication skills
• CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
