ICU Registered Nurse (RN)

Location

Glenbrook, IL

Unit Information

Position available in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CV ICU). Experience requirement is 3 years in CV ICU. Weekend commitment is every other weekend, and holidays are required on Memorial Day. There is no on-call obligation. An orientation of 8 hours of non-billable time is provided.

Floating Requirements

Potential to float to other intensive care units within the region as necessary.

License and Certification Requirements

• Active Illinois nursing license
• CPR certification
• ACLS certification
• NIHSS certification
• Epic experience

Required Skills

• Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Management of multi-system organ failure and thermoregulation
• Experience with CABG, Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump, and Impella
• Post-cardiac surgery care (not directly from the OR)
• Pre/Post cardiac catheterization interventions
• Pulmonary artery line/Swan Ganz monitoring
• Valve replacement and repair
• Left Ventricular Assist Device (LVAD) and Right Ventricular Assist Device (RVAD) management
• Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT) and Continuous Venovenous Hemodialysis (CVVHD)
• IV therapy (including accessing ports and managing arterial lines)
• Administration of blood products and central line management
• PICC line management and starting IVs
• Administration of continuous IV paralytics/neuromuscular blockade
• Continuous IV sedation and emergency medications
• Procedural sedation administration
• Management of cardiac and vasoactive drips
• CVA/Acute Stroke Management
• Management of lumbar drains
• Assistance with BiPAP and CPAP management
• Care of ventilated patients and use of high flow nasal cannula (HFNC)
• Interpretation of Arterial Blood Gases (ABGs)
• Suctioning (Endotracheal Tube and Nasotracheal)
• Ventilator management
• Infection prevention and isolation precautions
• Phlebotomy skills
• Care for surgical wounds with drains and wound vac
