Superintendent Civil Utilities (Water, Sewer, Storm, Wastewater)Position OverviewExperienced Construction Superintendent to lead field operations for civil utilities projects including water, sewer, storm, and wastewater systems. The Superintendent will manage day-to-day construction activities to ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, on budget, and in compliance with contract documents and applicable regulations. This role requires strong technical knowledge of trenchless and open-cut methods, utility coordination, quality control, and direct supervision of crews and subcontractors while maintaining excellent client and stakeholder communication.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide on-site leadership and supervision of all construction activities for water, sewer, storm, and wastewater projects, including trenchless installations and rehabilitation.Plan, sequence, and coordinate field work to meet project schedules and budget targets while minimizing disruptions to utilities and the public.Enforce safety programs and best practices, conduct daily safety briefings, and ensure compliance with OSHA, confined space, and site-specific safety requirements.Manage subcontractors, vendors, and workforce performance; ensure work meets project specifications, drawings, and quality standards.Coordinate with project managers, engineers, inspectors, and client representatives to resolve technical issues and implement design clarifications and change orders.Monitor and control cost by tracking labor, equipment, materials, and change requests; report progress and variances to project management.Oversee QA/QC activities, maintain accurate daily logs, as-builts, testing records, and field documentation required for project closeout.Obtain and manage permits, utility locates, traffic control plans, and required regulatory approvals; coordinate utility shutdowns and restorations as needed.Operate and oversee use of heavy equipment and specialty trenchless equipment, ensuring proper maintenance and operation.Train, mentor, and develop field personnel, promoting teamwork, productivity, and a culture of continuous improvement.Qualifications5+ years of experience as a Superintendent or Lead Foreperson on civil utilities projects (water, sewer, storm, or wastewater), with demonstrated field leadership.Direct experience with trenchless technologies (CIPP, HDD, pipe-bursting, sliplining) and open-cut construction methods.Strong knowledge of utility construction practices, wastewater collection/treatment systems, and related regulations and permits.Proven ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents.Demonstrated competence in scheduling, cost control, and project documentation (daily reports, RFIs, change orders).Commitment to safety with relevant certifications preferred (OSHA 10/30, Confined Space, First Aid/CPR, HAZWOPER where applicable).Valid driver's license and clean driving record; willingness to travel to project sites and work extended hours as needed.Proficient with Microsoft Office and field management software; strong communication and interpersonal skills for client and subcontractor coordination.Associate or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred, or equivalent field experience.BenefitsMedical VisionDental 401(K)BonusAnd More!
