Travel Respiratory Therapist Job Details

• Position: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
• Specialty: NICU/PICU, Pediatric Respiratory Care, and Pediatric Critical Care
• Location: Richmond, Virginia
• Contract: 13 weeks
• Start Date: November 9, 2026
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,030–$2,190
• Schedule: 3 night shifts per week
• Shift Duration: 12-hour nights, approximately 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.
• Hours: Approximately 36 hours per week
• Openings: 7

Registered Respiratory Therapist Job Requirements

• At least 1 year of respiratory therapy experience; 2 years of experience is preferred
• Current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential
• Active Virginia or compact-state license in hand at the time of submission
• Current BLS, NRP, and PALS certifications
• Experience caring for neonates, infants, pediatric patients, and adolescents in critical care settings
• Epic electronic medical record charting experience required
• Level I trauma center experience preferred
• Ability to work overnight shifts and provide shift availability during the application process
• Two professional references required
• BSN or additional relevant education preferred

Pediatric Respiratory Therapist Responsibilities

• Provide respiratory care for patients in the NICU, PICU, pediatric acute care, and pediatric emergency settings
• Assist with high-risk deliveries and support neonatal resuscitation activities
• Manage and troubleshoot mechanical ventilators, including Servo-I systems; experience with Puritan Bennett ventilators is preferred
• Provide care involving high-frequency oscillatory ventilation (HFOV), high-frequency jet ventilation (HFJV), high-flow nasal cannula, BiPAP, heliox, and nitric oxide
• Assist with intubation, extubation, bronchoscopy, airway management, tracheostomy care, and ventilator weaning
• Perform pulmonary hygiene, airway suctioning, arterial blood gas interpretation, and respiratory assessments
• Administer and manage prescribed respiratory medications and aerosolized therapies
• Support external transports following completion of required competency assessments
• Float within scope of practice as needed to support patient care
• Accurately document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes in Epic
