Responsibilities Provide special education students with learning activities and experiences designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Ensure compliance with state and federal guidelines for special education documentation. Plan and deliver instruction using the most efficient and effective methodology for students. Employ special education strategies and techniques during instruction to improve the development of sensory and perceptual motor skills, language, cognition, and memory. Teach socially acceptable behavior, employing techniques such as behavior modification and positive reinforcement. Implement the approved-course curriculum. Collaborate with parents, administrators, related service providers, and professionals to develop individual educational plans designed to promote each student’s educational, physical, and social development. Meet with parents and/or guardians to discuss their children’s progress and to determine their priorities for their children and their resource needs. Support children’s emotional and social development, encouraging understanding of others and a positive self-image. Establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects, and communicate those objectives to students. Utilize preventive discipline methodology with students. Assist students in developing positive moral and performance character attributes. Perform other duties as assigned by Principal/School Leader. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Special Education. AZ State certification and endorsement in assigned area. 1-2 years of successful teaching experience in special education.
