Job Overview The Clinical Dietitian delivers comprehensive nutrition support and medical nutrition therapy that aligns with patients’ medical goals. This role involves educating patients about their diet and nutrition plans, acting as a key nutrition resource for medical and nursing staff, and collaborating with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to develop and implement nutrition services based on established standards of care and practice guidelines. Responsibilities Provide comprehensive nutrition support and medical nutrition therapy aligned with patients’ medical goals. Educate patients and their families about diet and nutrition plans. Serve as a key nutrition resource for medical, nursing, and other health professionals. Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement nutrition services and therapy following established guidelines. Act as a consultant and primary advocate for the nutrition care of patients in specialty departments, providing evidence‑based nutrition care. Assess and determine nutritional needs based on age and disease‑specific requirements. Develop, implement, and monitor nutrition interventions to ensure effectiveness and outcomes. Offer individual and/or group nutritional education to patients, families, caregivers, students, and medical staff. Conduct nutrition assessments, evaluate the need for enteral or parenteral nutrition support, and communicate dietary adjustments with physicians. Maintain regular, punctual attendance and interact with coworkers, visitors, and staff in alignment with Jefferson’s core values. Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or a related field (required). Master’s Degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or a related field preferred for those registered prior to January1,2024 and required for those graduating after that date. Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) credential by the Commission on Dietetic Registration, required within 6 months of hire. State licensure as a Dietitian preferred; may be required depending on departmental policy. Additional certifications (e.g., ICU‑CNSC) may be required for in‑patient or ambulatory positions.
